After a couple of near misses the season got back on track with a
well crafted away win against White City. Following a couple of
games that the side dominated but were left out of the points a
couple of changes were made to the system. The side responded well
and even though the formation was not given much practice time,
controlled the ball for long periods.
Against an opposition that played in depth to overcome any quick
counter attacks it was initially difficult to get into scoring
positions and the game was played primarily in midfield. Once the
width of the park was used and the wide players bought into play it
wasn’t long before Rob Carle picked up a far post ball following a
good passage of passes to slip in the first goal half way through the
half.
Determined not to relinquish the lead close to half time the side
tightened up to take the 1-0 lead into the break.
With
the club suffering from the ravages of the flu, and with a number of
players in the recovery stage on the field, the hawks conserved their
energy to play a possession game in the second half before Rob
Balantincz turned the defence to slot home the second goal to secure
the win.
Man
of the match was Raph Larnach.

Down to a single reserve the side battled well to take all three
points against a fairly experienced White City side. With eight
players not available to the club on the weekend the reserves went
out with an unfamiliar formation to defend their second spot on the
table. The Hawks went after the game early, forcing a number of
chances before a corner resulted in Nathan Gray coming up from the
backs to break the deadlock with a fierce left foot volley.
Secure with having the lead the Hawks consolidated the game,
concentrating on maintaining possession and taking counter-attacking
opportunities.
